THE ROLE

As a Young Director you will have high aspirations and ambition for children who are looked after and care leavers. You will work alongside the Deputy Young Director to support and develop corporate understanding and commitment to the Leaving Care and Children in Care Council (EMPIRE) pledge.

This role should bring exciting opportunities for the successful candidate to sit on and influence decisions made within the Local Authority for young people in care and care leavers

 

  • Attend decision making professional forums and meetings to ensure the view and opinions of young people are heard and influence the decision-making process
  • Talk, listen and report the views and feedback of children in care and care leavers
  • Plan and organise meeting, events and seminars
  • Be part of events, which promote children and young people in care and leaving care
  • Lead on priority action plans
  • Organise campaigns

THE CANDIDATE

  • Personal experience of the care system
  • To create a positive ‘can-do’  culture within the team
  • To role model good professional behavior
  • The ability to motivate others; to be approachable and friendly
  • Well organised and good time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • No formal entry requirements for the level 2 or 3 qualification

OTHER INFORMATION

Special Conditions

 

  • Ability to work flexibly; including evening and weekends
  • Able to travel around the London Borough of Croydon and neighbouring Boroughs
