After receiving £400,000 from the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board), Croydon Works are launching 2 brand new training programmes. The first programme is Women into Construction! We are championing the rise of the number of women working in construction, and we want to make that difference here in Croydon!
Alongside training that includes CV workshops and interview preparation, those completing the programme will be trained in level one health and safety and receive a CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) There is also the chance to join construction associations that represent workers and also offer additional training courses.
The construction industry is not just about working on site and plying a trade – it also includes administrative positions, management roles and the opportunity to work in logistics. Alongside full-time positions, apprenticeships are also available.
Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, cabinet member for economy and jobs, said: “This is a great opportunity to get into a career that is continuing to grow and will play an important part in the future of Croydon.
“With so many developments taking place across Croydon, there’s a great opportunity to be part of something that could not only shape your own future, but the future of the borough as well.”
