CALAT is one of the largest adult education providers in the country offering more than 500 part-time courses every year in various venues across the borough of Croydon on behalf of Croydon Council.


Our award-winning provision has been delivering courses to residents in the borough for over 70 years. The programme includes a variety of recreational, academic, pre-vocational and vocational courses in childcare and teaching assistant training, creative arts, health and social care, business administration, ICT, languages, English and maths, English for speakers of other languages and courses for adults with learning disabilities.


We also work with businesses and employers to deliver training aimed at raising the skills level of employees and developing the workforce.


CALAT still have vacancies on there Level 1, 2 & 3 Health and Social Care Courses.
If you are thinking of a career in Health and Social Care the Level 1 course will help you to learn more about the types of roles available and be supported to move into employment or progress onto a level 2 course.
The  Level 1 Care Award  is a delivered 1 day a week for 12 weeks
The award is a generic course introducing students to  various care roles, including working with people with a learning disability, with dementia and mental health.
The Level 2 Course  is City & Guilds Diploma in Care are for those who are employed or working as a volunteer in care.

You will gain the City & Guilds Health and Social Care Diploma Level 2 in 12 months.   

The Diploma can be generic to work in residential or domiciliary care or specialist leading to a qualification to work with people with a learning disability, with dementia and mental health.


The Level 3 Diploma in Care requires:  58 credits to achieve the qualification                                                                    

The Diploma is broken down into Units, these units are selected on your tasks you are required to do in your job role and the units may include:

  • Challenging behaviour
  • Mental health
  • Dementia
