THE COMPANY

BXB is a multi-award winning development company delivering properly designed homes for all tenures and we are currently aiming to provide around 3000 units across 50+ sites throughout the borough. The BXB model is designed to maximise the return from development activity to local residents, while also addressing housing need. We are a small team of 16 and we are committed to delivering innovative, exciting developments and made up of experts in their fields of design, finance, communications and development management. By staying small we can be nimble and responsive to the key needs of each site.

THE ROLE

You will be working as a Development Coordinator helping to bring forward our programme of high quality, mixed tenure new homes within the context of the Brick By Brick Business Plan. Your role will involve helping to manage all aspects of our delivery programme from inception and planning through tendering, construction, snagging, certification and evaluation, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget. You will also work on overarching strategic construction related projects benefiting the Brick By Brick portfolio as well as supporting the Heads and/or Development Managers with distinct pieces of work.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Help programme-manage a series of projects, managing and coordinating day-to-day activities to the highest of professional standards and to very tight deadlines.
  • Assist with the appointment and management of professional teams for your projects.
  • Assist in building the case for investment in your schemes by demonstrating and/or assessing the deliverability, quality and viability of development proposals to ensure commercial and sustainable developments.
  • Monitoring and documenting your projects, reporting to variety of audiences through different means.

You will ultimately be a brand ambassador for Brick By Brick and act as a key advocate for the company by building a network of excellent working relationships with external contacts, stakeholders and clients.

 

THE CANDIDATE

Specific Minimum Qualifications and Expertise

  •  Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally with a qualification in a construction or development related discipline
  •  Excellent experience of working in a construction or development setting, developing and delivering initiatives across organisational boundaries
  •  Full understanding and knowledge of the different stages of construction/development/regeneration projects
  •  Understanding and/or experience of appraising development options and proposals
  •  Experience of working within a politically driven organisation operating at a senior level with elected members or board members
  •  Experience of sourcing, commissioning, procuring and managing contractors to take forward elements of delivery
  •  Understanding and/or ability to identify and manage risks in project and programme delivery
  •  Experience of budget management particularly in relation to construction programmes/ projects
  •  Demonstrable ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  •  Experience of working with external stakeholders, partners and members of the public, delivering high quality professional services
  •  Ability to communicate complex ideas, concepts, issues and financial information clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing

OTHER INFORMATION

Salary: Grade 1 £30-£40k pa plus performance related pay scheme of up to 20% of salary
Contract and Hours: Full time (36) permanent, including some weekend and evening work
Annual Leave: 28 days rising to 31 days with experience
Pension: Up to 6% contributory pension
