THE ROLE

We are seeking a Welfare and Debt Advice Officer to join our Income Collection Team and deliver our welfare and debt advice services in the boroughs of Croydon, Bromley and Sutton. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Specialist advice on welfare benefits and debt as well as information and casework management to the tenants of CCHA.
  • Liaising closely with key agencies such as housing benefit and the DWP to secure the best outcome for our tenants.
  • Provide budgeting, income maximisation, banking and fuel poverty & debt advice to enable customers to successfully maintain their tenancy
  • Assess new and potential residents prior to sign up for affordability for lettings and allocations and prevention of evictions.
  • Management of admin, diary, debt advice, working with creditors, strategies for non-priority debts

 

THE CANDIDATE

You will have excellent knowledge in all aspects of welfare reform experience of dealing with Universal Credit, under-occupation and benefit cap. You will work with the Income Team to minimise current debt and contribute to maintaining our income collection targets.

 

You will need to have a full driving licence and DBS.
