We are looking for an experienced Retail Supervisor for our Croydon store.

 

You will be required to work 40-hours per week, 5 days out of 7, fully flexible contract. 

This role will require you to work closely with the team, including managers, to support the daily running of the business.

 

You will also be required to review current working methods and propose new procedures that benefit the business.

Being part of the team, you will provide support and help maintain and improve the levels of customer service throughout the store. You will provide assistance in the supervision of all staff while maintaining the standards of the Shop floor / Warehouse.

 

Please note this role has a probationary period of 12 weeks. 

 

Job Profile

 

Retail Supervisor –

 

Reports to the Store Managers

 

Directly responsible for:

 

  • Responsible for all order picking of delivered goods (excluding grocery boxes)
  • Responsible for picking the customer order desk orders
  • Ensuring full stock availability is always maintained for the customer
  • Ensuring stock is merchandised within the guidelines set out by the store management
  • Ensuring all fresh food storage chillers are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring all price indications are 100% accurate at all times.
  • Ensuring the replenishment process of ambient goods is maximised and monitored daily.
  • Ensuring all health and safety policies and procedures are always adhered to within the ambient areas and storage chillers.
  • Ensuring the ambient and fresh are rotated correctly and any issues are highlighted earlier enough for action to be taken.
  • Ensuring all HACCP / food safety policies and procedures are adhered to. Focus on temperature controls and chill chain.
  • Ensuring the flow of goods through the shopfloor area is smooth and efficient.

  • To carry out recruitment assessments and interviews
  • To induct all new employees
  • To develop staff, ensuring all staff are trained in their job role, health & safety, food safety. To spot talent and allow employees to grow.
  • To ensure that all staff are trained in customer service requirements
  • To ensure the allocation of staff is reviewed, checked and agreed daily
  • To carry out or assist with staff performance or disciplinary/grievance issues

  • To check and provide the correct PPE and uniform for the employees in their area of work.

 

Inter Department and site communication

 

  • To effectively communicate with other site Managers and Supervisors

Operations

 

  • To ensure working methods within the business are continually reviewed and changes made to ensure the store maintains optimal efficiency and best practice.
  • To ensure stock availability is always maximised
  • To ensure all chill chain and food temperature regulations with regard to receipt and storage are followed
  • To ensure the internal and external goods-in areas, warehouse, bulk freezers, meat chiller and veg chiller are always kept clean and tidy.

 

Picking

 

  • Responsible for all order picking of delivered goods (excluding grocery boxes)
  • Responsible for picking the customer order desk orders

 

Stock Accuracy

 

  • To ensure that all system processes (SAP and Accellos) and procedures are carried out correctly and accurately
  • To ensure all perpetual inventory checks are carried out according to company guidelines.

 

Merchandising and Sales

 

  • To ensure all price indication is displayed and accurate
  • To ensure all bulk products are:
  • Replenished in a timely fashion to ensure full availability
  • Date rotated correctly
  • Displayed as per company standards
  • Handled and moved to minimise the risk of damages

 

Health & Safety, Maintenance and Repairs

 

  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are communicated and followed within their department and throughout the business
  • To ensure all due diligence requirements are met and any/all documents are completed when/where necessary
  • Ensure health and safety signage is up to date and clear
  • To carry out the store health and safety checks

 

Food Safety

 

  • To ensure all food safety regulations and procedures are followed and communicated
  • To carry out other reasonable requests as deemed appropriate to your job role and to the benefit of the company
  • To have a good understanding of other supervisor job roles and to be able to step in and multitask as required.
  • To carry out any other project or task requested by Senior Management.

 

About you

 

Experience:

 

  • Team management experience, ideally having overseen 30–40 staff members in a retail or warehouse environment
  • A solid background in HR and operational responsibilities, including scheduling, staff performance, and general compliance
  • At least one year of supervisory experience working on the shop floor or in a warehouse setting, with a hands-on understanding of day-to-day operations
