Department for Work and Pensions has a central ‘Find a Job’ page which currently has more than 10,000 vacancies across London. They have also published a local page for South London where you can find updates about local events, support and job vacancies, as well as a link to your local Jobcentre Plus Twitter account. The “Job Help” page has lots of great information with job seeking tips and the “Events in your area” page gives you access to events such as job fairs and is updated on a weekly basis.

For Civil service jobs, head to the 'Civil Service Jobs Page' where there are more than 400 jobs currently advertised within 10 miles of Croydon.

If you’re interested in retraining, but need advice about where to go and how to do it, then the National Careers Service has some really good resources including 1:1 session, webinars and other career tools to help you with your choice.

Further afield CareerBuilder has the largest online job site in the UK and works with more than 300,000 employers around the world and 24 million hits per month, is a popular choice for job search and career building.

The Department for Education has launched The Skills Toolkit which offers a range of free digital and numeracy courses to build your skills.

There are a number of websites which give more information and advice on careers in specific industries, particularly where there are skills shortages and where job vacancies continue to be advertised.

Health Care – if you’re interested in becoming one of our national heroes, then then the Department of Health has a range of information and advice on their Careers pages and Croydon University Hospital.

London South Bank University is a prestigious university in Elephant and Castle, London Borough of Southwark, near the South Bank of the River Thames, from which it takes its name. The University has applied for planning permission to turn Electric House in Wellesley Road, Croydon into its new campus to offer degrees including nursing, accounting and business management from September 2021. From an initial 500 students, the university hopes to grow its student base in Croydon to 8000 over the coming years and expand its curriculum offer in line with its current offer and to reflect the needs of students and employers.
