We are looking for an experienced officer with project management and change experience, with a real passion for service improvement to support the delivery of long-term solutions for the residents of Croydon.
About the role:
· Working as part of team to progress the projects under the transformation agenda and identifying activities for improvement working in partnership with stakeholders
· Supporting in the delivery of change and transformation projects across the housing directorate. This includes project management, diagnostic and design work
· Work alongside colleagues in engaging front line staff and residents in continuous improvement activities to deliver a better service
· Managing the progress of the transformation and change projects, using data and customer insight to monitor the quality and effectiveness of outcomes. With a data driven focus evaluating and analysing data and information for continuous improvement
· Translate change plans into clear action plans, identifying risks and making recommendations
Key responsibilities:
· Inspecting and surveying private sector properties to assess condition, identify hazards, and recommend repairs.
· Producing detailed reports, drawings, specifications, and schedules of works. Managing tendering processes and supervising contractors on-site.
· Providing expert advice to colleagues and stakeholders on building safety and compliance.
· Overseeing works in default where necessary, ensuring standards and value for money.
· Supporting legal processes by preparing evidence and attending court or tribunals when required.
About you:
· A relevant qualification in building surveying, construction, or equivalent experience.
· Strong knowledge of housing and building legislation, construction techniques, and health & safety regulations.
· Experience of surveying properties, diagnosing defects, and preparing schedules and specifications.
· Experience of managing works on-site, tendering, and supervising contractors.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
· You will have good stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and collaborate at different levels.
· Detailed knowledge of current legislation and best practice across a local government environment together with an awareness of the key issues facing local government and in particular Housing
· Knowledge and experience of project management and implementing change in housing
· Strong organisational, planning, and analytical skills
· Strong communication skills and experience of producing papers for senior stakeholders to influence direction and change
