Our Young Adult Programmes equip 16-25-year-olds with the essential money management skills they need to navigate major life transitions, such as starting work or moving out for the first time.

 

Our programmes are designed to provide practical, real-world financial knowledge. Sessions are interactive, engaging, and tailored to suit the needs of each group.

 

Participants can also earn a Level 1 Personal Money Management qualification.

 

Two-day course running Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September.

Accreditation Modules

 

The following core topics must be covered to get the Level 1 Personal Money Management qualification:

 

  • Income: Sources of income, employment and self-employment and employee rights.
  • Deductions: Reading a payslip, taxes, National Insurance, student loans and pensions.
  • Spending: Household costs, comparing products and ways to pay.
  • Budgeting: Planning a budget, adjusting for expenses and saving.
  • Banking: Choosing the right accounts and understanding savings. 
  • Borrowing: Credits scores, loans, debt management and avoiding pitfalls.

 

Our course also covers:

 

  • Housing & Tenancies: Managing rent, utilities, and tenancy agreements. 
  • Consumer Rights: Understanding legal protections to avoid financial loss.
  • Gambling awareness: The risks and impacts of gambling on finances. 

 

Eligibility:

 

  • Aged 16-25 or a Trailblazer Participant.
  • Live in the borough of Croydon
  • Not in any paid employment
  • Reasonable level of English
  • Able to attend both days of the course - Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September.
