RIBA Part II Architect

About the role

Working with Directors, Associates, Architectural Consultants, Building Surveyors and other senior colleagues, you will support the design, technical development and delivery of a varied range of architectural and building consultancy projects. Your work will span feasibility and concept design, planning, technical design and construction-stage information, including refurbishments, extensions, adaptations and existing-building projects.

You will contribute to measured surveys, site inspections, design research, planning and listed building consent applications, building regulation submissions, drawings, schedules, specifications, reports and construction documentation. As your experience grows, you will be encouraged to take greater project and client-facing responsibility, supported by mentoring, technical review and relevant continuing professional development.

What we are looking for

• RIBA Part II, or an equivalent recognised architectural qualification, with a clear commitment to progressing towards RIBA Part III and ARB registration where applicable.
• Relevant practical experience in an architectural practice, multidisciplinary consultancy or similar built-environment environment, ideally involving refurbishment, extension, adaptation, residential, education, community, healthcare or public sector projects.
• Sound design ability, technical awareness and an understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work from early design through to technical and construction stages.
• The ability to produce clear, accurate and well-presented drawings, schedules, reports, planning material, technical details and project correspondence.
• Developing knowledge of UK planning processes, listed building and conservation considerations, building regulations, construction technology, materials, detailing, sustainability and health and safety.
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with a positive, helpful and professional approach to clients, consultants, contractors and colleagues.
• An organised, methodical and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team and to recognise when senior input or approval is required.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and architectural software such as AutoCAD and Revit; experience of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, BIM workflows or visualisation tools would be advantageous.
• A valid driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for travel to client sites when necessary.
