“The support we have received from Croydon Council and Croydon Works has been exemplary, positive and very much hands on. We have benefitted from their support and events to encourage those who have been long term unemployed back to work, or encouraging women into construction.
Recently, Croydon Works alongside ourselves supported Croydon College with a pre-apprenticeship programme, bringing in 60 local people. It was clear that all candidates had been supported and encouraged on behaviour for interviews with Ardmore, and this assisted us in placing multiple Croydon residents on apprenticeships commencing in February 2020.
As Construction Company working on a local development, part of our commitment is to engage with the local council brokerages (like Croydon Works) and Employment and Skills departments. This is essential to our Section 106 Employment and Skills targets which can be a challenging area, and the support from the council has been proactive and the delivery of local people has been second to none. The Section 106 agreements can be quite daunting to contractors moving into a new borough and for us it’s great to have a body within the council like Croydon Works who can provide the above support.
The Croydon Works experience has been very successful for us, through their hard work and dedication to addressing our labour needs. Most significantly, from working with the team we have been able to establish a forward look at our labour programme and requirements for staff. The CW’s team expert knowledge means they are able to prepare local candidates for the up-and-coming roles, which makes a big difference in the industry.
The Croydon Works Team are fully committed to engaging with contractors and providing the right candidates for the positions offered. They work hard with their candidates to prepare them and ensure they have the right documentation to work in the industry. It’s been a pleasure working with Peter and Daniel, they are both fully committed in the area they work and I say this without hesitation”
