Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, yet it remains misunderstood and often stigmatised. This three week course provides a deep dive into mental health, exploring key topics such as mental health legislation, public attitudes, conditions, treatments, and support strategies.

 

Online course for three week you will need a Laptop/Home PC with internet access. You cannot participate using a phone. Course start date 28th April 2025 

 

This course is  free for those who are unemployed, subject to eligibility.

With a focus on resilience, recovery models, and reflective practice, you’ll develop both confidence and competence in addressing mental health challenges.

 

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

 

  • Understand and explain the key principles of mental health legislation and its impact on service delivery.
  • Analyse societal attitudes toward mental health and how they have evolved over time.
  • Identify factors that influence mental health across different life stages and develop strategies to promote well-being.
  • Create person-centred care plans using the recovery model to support individuals effectively.
  • Develop and reflect on the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for working in mental health services.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of professionals and how partnership working improves outcomes.
  • Support individuals affected by suicide, self-harm, or dual diagnosis with compassion and professionalism.
