Library, Reading & Literacy Volunteer

Main responsibilities

·       Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in your session where children feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, opinions, and ideas about the books they like

·       Support children in improving their reading comprehension, vocabulary through discussion

·       Build positive and trusting relationships with young people

·       Engage with young people and encourage active participation in activities

·       Establish clear professional boundaries

·       Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Health and Safety Policy

·       Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Safeguarding Children Policy

Skills and Attributes

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well in a team

·       Passion for children’s literacy

·       Ability to engage and connect with children of diverse backgrounds and ages

·       Non-judgmental approach to supporting young people from diverse backgrounds
